Hello and welcome back to In The Dark.
Today sees the release of Chapter 2 and I’m excited to get it into your hands. The first chapter ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and left more questions than answers, especially for our main character. Chapter 2 does much of the same, which is to be expected as I put our main character through the existential gristmill.
The title of this Chapter 2 is Newcomers for reasons that become clear as you read.
If you are just finding out about In The Dark for the first time, here’s a good primer to to get yourself oriented.
In Chapter 2 there’s some discussion about Hell, which I had quite a bit of fun writing. At the time I was writing it I wasn’t thinking about the classic cartoon The Far Side, but apparently, Gary Larson left his mark on my subconscious when it comes to how I perceive the concept of Hell.
Also, on the subject of The Far Side and Hell, my favorite cartoon of all time is:
The idea of a bunch of devils putting out a suggestion box only to read them and laugh is hilarity to me. Making it even worse is seeing the silhouettes of the poor bastards through the door as they toil in the flames of eternity.
The concept of Hell both fascinates and amuses me as you will see in Chapter 2.
Okay, time to get out of the way and let you enjoy In The Dark Chapter 2: Newcomers.
